Man Crush Monday: Matthew Daddario

It was about time I dedicated him a post. My Mateo 馃槏
In case you don't know him, Matt is an American actor who plays Alec Lightwood on "Shadowhunters". And besides being the perfect Alec and VERY handsome, he is such a dork 馃槀 His tweets and interviews are the best. You have to check them. This interview he gave to buzzfeed is just the best 馃槀馃槀 And without further ado... Matthew Daddario 馃槈

I loved this when I watched the video. He says it with such a deep creepy voice 馃槀 (x)

These two gifs are among my favourites. Look at his eyes (I am totally in love with them) 馃槏 And his smile 馃槏

** None of the gifs are mine. All of them are from tumblr, and credit goes to their amazing creators. I love you. Thank you. You are the best.

Shadowhunters S2 Winter Finale | My thoughts (w/ spoilers)

This week ended the first part of Shadowhunters season 2, and after watching the winter finale, I felt like I had to share my thoughts somewhere. So here we go 馃榿

Before this last episode, they left us knowing what Valentine's plan was: to destroy all the downworlders with the Soul Sword, using Clary to activate it because she has angel blood due to Valentine's experiments (thank God the writers didn't change the story about Clary's blood). And also, that Simon was kidnapped. Again 馃槀

We start the episode, and they decide that the vision the angel gave to Clary and Jace means that he, because of his demon blood, is able to destroy the sword. Ok. I don't believe it 馃槀 I think reading the books might have spoiled that.

Then Maia... I don't like what they are doing with her. Was she like this on the books? So... annoying? The actress is great, she fits what I had imagined, and the scenes she had with Simon during this season were 馃槏 But I don't like this angry Maia. Nope.

Isabelle and Raphael... I thought he was leaving to fight Valentine, not to betray Izzy and try to kill Clary. That was a nice ship, tho. Short, but nice. And all the plot with the yin fen, reminding the readers about lovely Jem 馃槏 That's something I like, little details that only the readers understand and that link to other characters and books. They make you don't hate the writers that much 馃槀

Alec and Adeltree... that was an odd pair. During this part of the season, I've read some theories from book readers saying that Adeltree was Sebastian, especially since they showed that rune that changes your aperience. There were episodes where I believed it, and others where I didn't, but I think that after that conversation with Alec, it is clear he isn't him. Also, Alec's eyes during that whole scene馃槏 They have been my obsession this season 馃檴

I know this gif isn't from the episode, but look at those eyes. Look at thim馃槏馃槏

The next scene, with Simon bleeding out and Clary giving him her blood, totally caught me out of guard. They have changed so many things, that I totally believed that it was actually her, not Jace. When the glamour disappear I was so shocked!! They did it!! They followed the books!!

After this, there are some fighting scenes (Clary's 馃檲), and there is a quote from the books! The little details again.

And then, the drama. Jace touches the Soul Sword thinking he will destroy it, but he actually activates it! 馃槺 This was another thing that surprised me. I knew he wouldn't destroy the sword because he doesn't have demon blood, but I didn't remember that he had angel blood too! So when he activated I was like

Now here is where all the good things happen. Jace and Valentine fight, and while doing that, Valentine confesses that Jace isn't his son! He and Clary aren't siblings! And he doesn't have demon blood! I am sure non-readers' mouths were wide open haha Clary has another vision, and sees a rune that desactivates the sword (this is another thing they have kept from the books, Clary and her visions. Thank you writers). Then... oh, then. That Malec moment!!! That hug!! 馃槏馃槏馃槏 While reading the books I didn't care that much about them, but with the show 馃槏

After this beautiful scene, we have Simon, who discovers that the sun doesn't burn him anymore! I've been waiting for this momment since he converted. I remember reading it and being so shocked! It was an amazing plot twist, so thank you writers for don't ignoring it. Then we have a Climon momment, with poor Jace looking at them on the background. If he only knew... But the thing is that Clary has more chemistry with Simon than with him 馃檴

And, that last scene. THAT LAST SCENE!!!!!! Just a few seconds, just a dark figure, but aaaahhhh!!! It was 1 a.m. when I watched it, and it was so hard not to scream Sebastian 馃槀 But he is coming. HE IS COMING!! I can't wait to see him. I like the actor they have chosen. I saw him on Game of Thrones, and he can do great. I am very confident! Fingers crossed the writers don't ruin him.

Can't wait till June!

Shadowhunters Vs. The Mortal Instruments (the movie). Who played it better?

Last week premiered "Shadowhunters", the tv show based on the book series "The Mortal Instruments", by Cassandra Clare. I have read the books (except the last one), and I was really excited when I found out that they were making a show, and today I wanted to share my thoughts about it.

I wanted to do a nice review, comparing the plot on the show, the movie and the books. But I have a cold and my brain isn't on the mood, so I am gonna leave that for later. I may do it once the show is over and the plot has been more developed and we have more things to compare. So far there only are two episodes avaliable, and the changes they have done are not as bad as some people say. Or maybe I am used to the changes on Game of Thrones and it doesn't bother me that much anymore xD

What I am gonna do today is to compare the actors from both the movie and the show, and then try to decide who represents better what I had on mind while reading the books.

  • Clary Fray
                Lily Collins                                          Katherine McNamara
As I said before, there only are two episodes of "Shadowhunters", but they are enought to make me choose Lily Collins (Clary on the movie), over Katherine McNamara. Ignoring the fact that her hair is not ginger, is orange as hell, she is not a good actress. Or she hasn't shown it yet. When she has to play nice Clary, she is ok, but once she has to cry, to be tougher or to try to flirt with Jace...  Fail. And I am not the only one who thinks this way. I hope she gets better, because she is the main character.

  • Jace Wayland
                     Dominic Sherwood                                           Jamie Campbell Bower
I liked Jamie Campbell Bower on the movie, and I like Dominic Sherwodd on the show, though neither of them look like the Jace I had on my mind. I think that if you mix them, that could be my Jace...

  • Simon Lewis
             Robert Seehan                                  Alberto Rosende
Though both Robert Seehan (movie) and Alberto Rosende (show) are really good, Robert wins. He was perfect and just as I imagined Simon.

  • Isabelle Lightwood
                              Emeraude Toubia                                             Jemima West
I had to google who played her on the movie because I couldn't remember, so the Isabelle from "Shadowhunters" (Emeraude Toubia) wins. Though she would have won even if I had remembered Jemima West. Her Izzy is perfect. At first, when they announced that she was playing her, I wasn't sure, but now that I have seen her acting... Per-fect (read that as Liam Payne on the "Best song ever" video).

  • Alec Lightwood
                      Matthew Daddario                                Kevin Zegers
With him happens something similar to with his sister, though in his case I remember the actor who played him on the movie, Kevin Zegers. He was on Gossip Girl and I didn't like his character, so the same happened to Alec. But in the show everything change. When Matthew Daddario got cast, I wasn't sure about him either, but once I saw him acting, I was totally in. He is my Alec. And he is so hot. SO HOT! I am in love.

  • Magnus Bane

           Godfrey Gao                                      Harry Shum, Jr.

We haven't seen much of Magnus on "Shadowhunters", but he is played by "the korean guy from Glee". And so far he stays that way xD The one on the movie, Godfrey Gao, was really good. The way they dressed him up was perfect, just as I pictured him while reading the books. So Magnus from "The Mortal Instruments" wins.

  • Jocelyn Fray
             Lena Headey                                          Maxim Roy
On the movie Jocelyn was played by the amazing Lena Headey, aka Cersei Lannister. And though I love her, she didn't fit as my Jocelyn. On the show she is played by Maxim Roy, and I quite like her. But this has to be a tie. I love Lena too much.

  • Valentine Morgenstern
Alan Van Sprang                                                  Jonathan Rhys Meyers
Valentine is the bad guy, and on the movie he was played by another great actor, Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I really like him (I don't know how many times I've seen "Match Point" or "Bend it like Beckham"), but as Valentine... meh. On "Shadowhunters" they have chosen Alan Van Sprang. He played King Henry on "Reign", and when they announced that they have cast him, I was like yes! If they let him, he can play an amazing Valentine. So even though neither of them had the white hair Valentine had on the books, I think I am choosing Alan (sorry Jonathan. I still love you though).

  • Luke Garroway
             Aidan Turner                                                   Isaiah Mustafa

Luke is the character that has changed the most if you compare the movie and the show. On the movie, he is played by Aidan Turner (K铆li on "The Hobbit"), and he is more or less like the Luke described on the books. On the show he is totally different. He is played by Isaiah Mustafa, and instead of being a bookseller, he is a policeman. And I like that change. I think it fits better the character, and that's why I choose him over the Luke on the movie.

Final score:
Shadowhunters 4 -  3 The Mortal Instruments
The tv show wins! Will things change at the end of "Shadowhunters" first season? I'll keep you updated!
