The Vampire Diaries is over. This weekend the last episode of the show was broadcasted. And it feels weird. TVD was one of the first tv shows I watched in English with subtitles besides Gossip Girl and Supernatural, it was special. I remember when a friend recommended it to me. I watched the first episodes and I was like: damn, this is like Twilight! But I was so wrong!
This last season was a bit meh. Like most seasons since the originals left, except from the one were we had Kai. But once the end was closer, things got more interesting. They made me think of different theories about how things could end, and having old characters made it all even more special.
I've read people who are really mad at what happened on that last episode, but I liked it. It might have been because I wasn't expecting that much, or because I've never liked Delena nor Stelena. But I liked it.
I think they ended all the plot about the bell too quickly. But they only had 40 minutes to finish everything, so I get it. When I saw the fire, the only thing I could think about was Game of Thrones 😂 I wish we had had a Bonnie to stop Cersei. Speaking of Bonnie, she has probably been, besides Matt, the character I've disliked the most. I've always found her so annoying! But since she started dating Enzo, I started liking her a bit, and felt bad for her. She suffered a lot, always saving everybody else, and she deserved to be happy. The scene stopping the fire, with Enzo and all the Bennett witches next her, was amazing.
I feel like Alaric didn't get a happy ending. Yes, he was able to open the school (X-Men anyone? haha), and see his daughters grow up, but still... Like Bonnie, he suffered a lot during all the seasons he was on the show, I would have liked something else for him.
Caroline was a character I liked some seasons, and that annoyed me a lot during others, but this season I liked her a lot. I never liked her with Stefan, they didn't match, but the wedding scene and the message she left him on the phone were 😍 But the best was the letter she got from Klaus. I knew there would be a Klaroline momment on the finale (they were my favourite couple from the whole show), and aaaaaahhh!!! 😍😍😍 "Whatever long as it takes" 😍😍😍 Though I liked that moment, I think it would have been ever better if they had recorded Klaus reading it. Having his voice again on the show 😍 (Can you guess who was my favourite character? haha) I hope Caroline, the girls or Alaric make an appereance on The Originals. Their story and Hope's aren't that different.
Now the important part. The Salvatore brothers and Elena.
I saw all the teasers they published before the episode, and they totally convinced me about Elena waking up because Bonnie's heart stopped. I remember reading that the Elena who says "Damon" was Katherine, but I didn't believe it. And they were totally right 😂
Katherine is one of my favourite characters as well, and I loved seeing her again. But she was clever than that. If she was queen of hell and that Cade working for her, why did she allow Damon to stab her so many times? It always was really hard to catch her out of guard.
When they announced that one important character will die on the season finale, I always thought that would be Stefan. He was the one who struggled the most being a vampire, he was the ripah as Klaus would say. So him dying made sense to me. Though when he found Elena on the halls of the high school (do you believe that he actually told Elena that he listened Caroline's message? I doubt it), they totally made me believe that the one who had died was Damon (also Bonnie), and that both Elena and Stefan were alive. But, as I thought, he had sacrifice himself. What he said about Damon, that he finally saw the old brother he always looked up to 😍 Because yes, the main thing that made you watch the show was the love triangle. But there also was an amazing brotherly love story.
Elena and Damon's reunion was a bit meh. I can understand Delena fans being a bit disappointed even though they end up together.
And then all the remember momments. The raven, Elena writing her diary on the graveyard, Jeremy, aunt Jenna (I was so sad when she died), Elena's parents... 💜 Though I must say that they scared me when they showed Elena meeting her family and she didn't look old. I was like, wait, did she died young? Did something happened? 😱 But at the end it was just that they didn't have money to age them, because Damon looked the same haha That last scene, with Stefan opening the door, the paralel with season 1... perfect.
So thank you for all these years TVD. Thank you for the good episodes and the boring ones. For the stupid plots and the great ones. Thank you Nina, Ian, Paul, Candice, Kat... all the cast. And Julie Plec. I've hated you and loved you all at the same time haha The Vampire Diaries will always be part of my fangirl life.
