Quoting our beloved wikipedia, who knows almost everything, the series focuses on Lucifer Morningstar, "who is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell and resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the beauty of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals". Lucifer runs a piano bar in Los Angeles called "Lux", with the assistance of his demonic ally Mazikeen or "Maze". After a minor celebrity whom Luciger once helped achieve fame is murdered ourside his club, Lucifer becomes involved with the LAPD when he takes it upon himselg to assist Detective Chloe Decker in finding the one responsible so that he can "punish them".
This show is kind of similar to "Castle", "The Mentalist"or "Elementary". You have a police detective who gets help from someone who isn't a fellow police (in this case the devil himself) to solve the crimes. On each episode they solve a different crime but, you also have a big main one that is solved at the end of the season and that kind of makes sense with things we see through the season. And we have some drama and funny bits, most of them courtesy of Lucifer.
But why do I like it that much and recommend it?
1. If you like the shows I mentioned before, you are probably gonna like this one. Yes, is most of the same (that's what my dad said and why he didn't like it).
2. It has a supernatural touch because of Lucifer's story line. And I personally love that (demons, angels, vampires... Anything the Winchesters can kill, I am in xD). I think it makes it different from other shows with a similar plot.
3. The one that got me totally in: Lucifer himself, aka Tom Ellis (you may know him because he was Gary on "Miranda" and the first Robin Hood on "Once Upon a Time"). He is very handsome and suits fit him as a glove.
But his voice and his accent... HIS VOICE AND HIS ACCENT. Ugh. I've watched the show both in English and Spanish, and it is not the same. It loses one of the big features of Lucifer. He is supposed to be sexy as hell (ha... ha) and to make people confess him their darkest secrets, and Tom's voice and his British accent do that perfectly. The difference is huge, seriously.
4. Season 1 only has 13 episodes, and so far from season 2 we only have one and they are on a two weeks hiatus. Most shows aren't coming until October, so you have something to watch!
