The 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show | Review

Do you ever get that feeling, when your favourite show is back after a hiatus, or when your favourite movie/book is finally out, that you just wake up happier? Because I do. And I had it today with the VSFS. Lame? Stupid? Perhaps. But I am fangirl, this is how I do it 😁

I asked on tumblr if I should do a more serious review or something like last year, where I commented the first thing that came to my mind. Only a few people answered, so I decided to do both things. Something more serious about the segments, and then some personal thoughts about the models and and the little videos we can see between segments.
And sorry there aren't many gifs. I couldn't find them! 😐

The introdution to Paris and the show was beautiful. And I had a little fangirl moment when I saw that the first model they showed was Josephine (and Jasmine).

1st Segment: The Road Ahead
This was weird. Some outfits looked from Asia, others Mexican... I remember reading somewhere it was a mix or something, but it looked weird. Both themes are great and I think they could do great outfits from them. They are now expanding to Asia, so I think just an asiatic segment would have been perfect.
The thing I liked the most about this first segment were the colours. The red and greens were beautiful, and I want the skirt Barbara Fialho was wearing. For what? I don't know, but it was pretty.

Despite the dragon, Elsa slayed. She looked amazing! The music was perfect for the opening. Though I had the feeling that they didn't showed her that much, and when you are the model opening, you should receive a lot of attention!

I believe last year I also hated on Ming Xi. But seriously, she is very annoying! Kendall went unnoticed, and Gigi did great.


2nd Segment: Mountain Romance
This segment was my favourite. By far. All the embroidery details, the colours, the shoes... Beautiful. And Josephine opened it! Her outfit wasn't among my favourites, but I am SO proud of her! 💜 When she got emotional at the end I got emotional with her 😭

Gaga did great. The song isn't one of my favourites, but if fit perfectly. She sang and intereacted with the models, but without stealing the spot.


3rd Segment: PINK
PINK is always a bit of a mess, and the weirdest outfits go there. I still remember the "wings" Elsa got a couple of years ago (I told you someone on VS hates her) and that almost killed Ariana Grande 🙈
This year I think it wasn't that bad. The shade of pink they used is beautiful, and paired with grey and black looked amazing. I would totally buy a full version of Luma's sweatshirt (if it wasn't expensive as hell haha). Speaking of Luma, she was my favourite in this segment. I knew about her becauseof the L'Oreal campaigns with Karlie Kloss, and my friend Ana was really excited about her being on the show. At first I was like meh, but she end up being a really nice surprise. Dilone was another nice surprise, though why so many dogs VS? Why?

Now, do you remember when talking about Josephine during the 2nd segment, I said I got emotional? Well, with this little video they made of her I actually cried. Damn you hormones 😅 She looked beautiful, something that she is both on the inside and the outside. She really deserved to be an angel, so VS, I hope you keep her there as long as she wants!

Gigi and Bella's video... The one who is there because of her family is Kendall you know. She is just there because of them. But who are the ones who get especial videos just for them? Yep.

The THREE OF THEM are there because of their lastnames, not just Kendall. Stop hating just on her! Ugh.

4th Segment: Secret Angel
I think this is the segment I liked the least. Those plastic trench coats... Nope.
Ming Xi, again. AGAIN. Ugh. Irina did great. I didn't see all that sex-appeal that was going to ruin the rest of the models as some people say, but she was very correct. That's what I like on the runway, not all those kisses and stupid things. Bella, poor thing. She was very nervous, and when she met The Weeknd she didn't know what to do. I don't like her, but I felt really bad for her.

Speaking of The Weeknd, another good and correct performance. His song had the perfect beat for the runway.

The video about Adriana looked like a good bye... And all the things they said about the gestures she does on the runway? That's what I don't like xD

The video featuring VSX goes to all those haters who say that models can be the face of a sport brand like adidas or nike :)

5th Segment: Dark Angel
I still don't know if I like this segment. It was better than the previous one, but... There were some pieces, like the ones Kate Grigorieva and Joan Smalls wore, that were beautiful. The wings were the best of the show though. Gigi's were my favourite, the perfect Dark Angel. It's a shame that she then did some weird things on the runway. 
Gaga was amazing in this segment. The ending 👏👏👏 She walked as a queen on those shoes, even better than some models. And the wings on her jacket... wow!

This video about the angels shows how things are changing. Years ago, being a VS angel was the biggest thing. Those models had exclusive contracts, and you didn't see them during the fashion weeks. Now those contracts are not that exclusive. The angels do more covers, more shows, more campaings... You can see it as a declive of the brand, that they are not as big as before. You can also think that it is because there are not models as before, that the ones we have today don't have that charisma. What do I think? That things change, and some people don't want to accept it.

6th Segment: Bright Night Angel
I am a big fan on Elie Saab's sparkly dresses. So sparkly lingerie? I am in 😊
On this segment we had the Fantasy Bra, and it totally went unnoticed. Again. Why didn't Jasmine open?  I sometimes don't get you VS. Bella, Josephine and Lily Donaldson's outfits were my favourite.

Irina was perfect again, and Bella as serious as I expected. And Stella smiled!! Be quick and make a wish! xD Bruno was great as well. I didn't like this song when it came out, and now I really like it 😅


And the finale. Adriana opening it... it still feels like a goodbye. And I have the feeling it was a bit short. Didn't other years stay longer at the end of the runway so you could see all the models? And Gaga, what a diva! I never thought she would say yes to something like this, and she ended up being one of the best things.


So, final thoughts. I liked the show, it flew by when I watched it. A lot of models were unnoticed to me, and the girls who do fashion weeks, as always, are better on the runway that the rest.
The music was good. I liked the performances better than the songs. If that makes sense xD
The models who everybody thought were going to steal the show (the Hadids and Kendall), didn't. People hated for nothing 😉
